Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "S. Bell & Son, Strasburg, VA."  The top line of the stamp is very light, but in the right light I can read it.

Samuel Bell and his Son, Turner Ashby, who potted together in Strasburg around 1880-1890 (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 72-73, 74).

This beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim, the Pottery Stamp, and Three Units of Brushed Manganese Comma Vining.  Stands 7 3/4" tall.

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
