Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Double-Sided Merchant Jar.
The jar was made for "Ike Rosenberger, Punxsutawney, PA" as stated on one side, and was made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA" as stated on the other. As you know double-stenciled pieces are rare as we usually have to guess who the maker of a merchant jar might be. Here we know!
Made about 1880, the Ike Rosenberger side has a fancy stencil with vining accents at the top, florals in the middle, and leaves at the bottom. The Hamilton and Jones side has the company advertising with tulips at the top, dangling flowers in the middle, and leaves at the bottom. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two 1/4" chips on the rim on the Rosenberger on one side, and some spots of light staining from use. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
One the second double-sided jars I have ever had to sell.
