Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped for "J. Swann, Alexa."
This is the mark of John Swann who made pottery in Alexandria, Virginia from 1811 to 1831 (Eddie Wilder, Alexandria, Virginia Pottery 1792-1876, pp. 29-56).
This beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Form with Stepped Spout, Applied Strap Handle, and Clear Pottery Stamp. Stands 14 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition with Restoration. Chips on top of the spout, and a 3/8" chip at the base. Professional restoration to the handle.
