Item 3965

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 1 Gallon Jar made for "J. C. Webster, Grocer, Carrolton, KY."

Webster commissioned this jar from a pottery in Southwest, Pennsylvania, probably one of the Hamiltons in Greensboro.

Carrolton is misspelled.  Should be Carrollton, a town in Carroll County on the Ohio River at the junction with the Kentucky River.  Population today is under 4,000.

Dating around 1880, this beauty features a Broad Top and Bottom Stripe that Frames Four Lines of Advertising in the Middle.  The stencil is in large letters and complete.  Stands 10" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Two minor 1/4" flakes inside the rim.  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Indentation on the back and oval at the top in the making.

If you collect Kentucky, Grocer, or Southwest Pennsylvania stoneware, here is rare one for you.
