Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 8 1/2" Wax Sealer Canning Jar attributed to Hamilton and Jones of Greensboro, Pennsylvania. Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
This beauty is one of the fruit jars made by Hamilton and Jones in 6", 8", and 10" sizes. The fruits included pears (skinny and fat), cherries, plums, peaches, and apples.
This is the 8" Skinny Pears Wax Sealer. These are not typically decorated other than the Greensboro, a stripe, and the pears. This one is an exceptional example. Four stripes create three panels, The top panel frames the rim, the middle one highlights "Greensboro", and the bottom one hosts two pears flanked on each side by four dashes. Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. No damage. Typical manufacturing imperfections.
This is the most elaborate one of these I have ever had to sell.
