Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar from Southwest Pennsylvania.
Dating around 1865, this beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Form with Carefully Tooled Rim and Encased Tulip that Fills the Front with Bold Cobalt Blue. While the rim indicates it can be used as a canner sealed by a tied piece of waxed paper or cloth, it is also shaped as a vase. Stands 8 3/8" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip on the right side of the rim, a 1/4" chip and a series of minor nibbles around the base, and a couple spots of light staining from use. That's it! No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
I have never seen a jar qulte like this one.
