Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 5 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "R. W. Russell, Beaver, PA."
This is the mark of Ralph W. Russell of Beaver, Pennsylvania. Russell ran the pottery in Beaver in the 1840's to his death in 1868 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, 143-44).
This beauty features a Jar Form, Tooled Rim, Pottery Stamp, Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals, and a Garland of Five Brushed Cobalt Tulips Underscored by a Broad Stripe. The decorator spared no expense on the cobalt-- it fills the front. Stands 15 1/2" tall.
