Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this beautiful 4 Gallon Crock made by "R. T. Williams, Manufacturer, New Geneva, PA."
Th is is the work of Robert T. Williams who worked in New Geneva from 1882 to 1895 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 168-70).
This Beauty Has Top to Bottom Cobalt Decoration. From the top down are two stripes, the company stencil, a freehand capacity number framed by dashes, and a bottom stripe. Additional cobalt accents the handle terminals. All the cobalt is strong and rich on a light gray clay for strong contrast. Measures 12 1/2" tall and 11" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/4" flake on top of the rim, a 3/8" shallow chip on the base in the back, and glaze wear to the back of the left handle. That's it! No inner or outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
A uncommon crock form from R. T. Williams that is also exceptionally clean.
