Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this marvelous Lidded Bowl made and signed by "R. & B. Diebboll, Washington, MI."
This is the work of Robert Diebboll and his son, Bruce. Robert founded the Pines End Pottery in Washington, Michigan in 1966 and made pottery until his passing in 2011. The stoneware was made with classic forms and decorations and carried on the American tradition of salt-glaze pottery with stunning success. Diebboll Pottery is highly sought after for its artistry and quality and prices continue to rise.
The bowl features a Carefully Tooled Rim, Rounded Sides, a Bird on a Branch. The lid has a generous application of comma vining around the edge. The decoration is a skilled combination of slip cup and brush design-- and all the cobalt is rich and shiny. In addition to the bird, there is comma vining and accents on the handle terminals on the sides, and sprigs of fruit in the back. Measures 6 1/2" tall and 10" wide across the top.
A wonderfully functional and decorative bowl.
