Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this great 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "F. T. Wright & Son, Stoneware, Taunton, Mass."
This is the mark of the Franklin T. Wright and his son who ran their pottery from 1866 to the 1870's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 50).
The jug was made for the merchant, "PAD, Prov., RI."
This beauty features a Clear Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and the Merchant Adversing in Bold Cobalt Blue Script. Stands 10 1/2"
Excellent Condition. A minor 1/4" flake on the base and a quarter-size stain on the back. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
