Item 3214

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 2 Gallon Blue and Gray Molded Cake Crock made for "S.S. Pierce, Co., Boston, Brookline.  Est. 1831, Inc. 1884."  Silas StillmanPierce founded a chain of grocery stores in Boston in 1831.

This crock was made by the Robinson Clay Products Company of Akron, Ohio (1900-1915).

This beauty features a Label on the Front with the Company Advertising, Surrounded by Grapevines and an Elf on Each Side.  More elaborate grapevines accent the back and the lid.  Gorgeous blue and gray coloration with cobalt accents on the embossed decoration.

Excellent condition.  The base is as made.  The lid has a single minor 1/2" ping line on the underside at the edge.  That's it!   The best example that I have ever run across.

This exquisite piece exemplifies the beauty of molded utilitarian wares in the early 20th century.
