Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "P. Hermann."
This is the stamp of Peter Hermann who made pottery on Eager Street in Baltimore from 1850-1872 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 98).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Freehand Sideways Floral on Each Side with 10 Leaves and a Flower with 7 Petals, the Center One of Which is Elongated and Curved. Additional heart-shaped accents at the handle terminals. Stands 13 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. For chips: one inside the rim (5/8"), one on one handle (1/4"), and two at the base (1/2", 5/8"). That's it! No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. The lighter runs on one side are water runs in the making.
