Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Exquisitely Molded Rye Whiskey Jug by Whites Pottery of Utica, New York.
The jug was made for "White Rose Rye Whiskey, P. J. Bowlin Liquor Co., St. Paul, Minn."
This beauty features exquisite detailing that only the Whites Pottery could do in its heyday of making molded stoneware (1890-1907).
The jug sports Top to Bottom Decoration. A series of beads adorn the base of the spout, as does a small placard reading, "Pure Rye." An intricate garland of flowers decorates the shoulder. Between two fancy borders, one side features the label with a bouquet of roses on the left side, and the other side features an entire rose bush. The handle is made to look like wood of a rose stem. Measures 8 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A single pinhead-size nibble on one letter. That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
