Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 4 Gallon Ovoid Jar with Tulip Garland.
It is attributed to Henry Glazier of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. He and his father, John, ran a pottery in Huntingdon from the 1830's to 1854. Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 68-72.
This beauty features a Straight Collar with Rounded Shoulder Trim, Ovoid Body, and a Garland of Tulips around the Middle with 4 Buds and Lots of Leaves on each side. Additional cobalt accents at the handle terminals. Measures 12 1/2" tall and 9 1/2" wide.
Good Condition. Some residue inside and some water glass staining outside from use. A 1/4" chip inside the rim, two flat chips on top of the rim (1/2", 1 1/2"), four chips outside the rim (1/4" to 1/2"), and a 2" narrow chip on the footer. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
