Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock.
The distinctive decoration indicates that it was made by Noah Furman of Cheesequake, New Jersey in the mid 19th century (M. Lelyn Branin, The Early Makers of Handcrafted Earthenware and Stoneware in Central and Southern New Jersey (pp. 191-193).
Dating about 1850, this beauty features a Delicate and Artistic "Spitting" Double Tulip Decoration in Pretty Cobalt Blue. Measures 7 1/2" tall and 9" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Two pinhead-size nibbles inside the rim, and two 1/4" chips outside the rim. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
