Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Fantastic 2 Gallon Syrup Jug made and stamped by the "New York Stoneware Co., Fort Edward, N.Y.."
This company was in production in Fort Edward, New York from 1859-1885.
This beauty features the Pour Spout Form, Pottery stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Freehand Cobalt Bluebird on a Branch Decoration. The decoration was clearly executed by a skilled hand using a slip cup. The cobalt used is dark and shiny. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1" chip on the top of the spout in the back, and a pinhead-size nibble inside the spout. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Slight recess below the decoration in the making.
If you like syrup jugs with birds, this is a very clean example.
