    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "N. A. White & Son, Utica, N.Y."


    This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).


    This beauty features a Clear Pottery Stamp and One of White's Signature Decorations: The  Orchid Executed with a Slip Cup and Brush. The orchid has 2 leaves, a blossom with four petals and side accents, and five buds at the top.  The stem and the outline of the blossom are done with a slip cup and the rest of the decoration with a brush.  Gorgeous! Stands 12 1/4" tall.  


    Excellent Conditon.  Light staining to the left of the decoration.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
