Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "N. B. Pearse, Middlebury, Ohio."


This potter is undocumented with no tax records or census records available (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 113). It is rare mark.


Made around 1850 to 1860, this jug has an Early Ovoid Form with the Pottery Stamp Accented in a Cobalt Swatch.  Stands 14 1/2" tall.


Good Condition.  Two 1/8" nibbles on the spout, and a 7" vertical line running 3/4" above the base and wrapping under to form a circle.  No base chips, stains, or restoration.
