Item 4033
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Monumental 6 Gallon Crock made and stamped by the "New York Stoneware Company, Fort Edward, N.Y."
This company was in production in Fort Edward from 1859-1885.
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Huge Freehand Floral with a Large Blossom, Buds, Leaves, and Tendrils Going Everywhere. Masterful artistry and deep and shiny cobalt. Measures 13 1/4" tall and 13 1/4" wide across the top.
I would say a Norton of Bennington, Vermont trained this artist or traveled west himself.
Very Good Condition. Two 5/8" chips on the rim, and very light staining. An in-body "Y" hairline on the right side with a 4" arm to the left, 2" arm to the handle, and 6" arm below (closeup). None reach top or bottom, and only about half the Y shows inside. No inner rim or base chips, or restoration.
