Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Monumental 4 Gallon Salt Glazed Jug with Elaborate Floral.
The decoration indicates that this jug is the work of Edward and Thomas Edmands who ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts from 1852-1868 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form with an Elaborate Slip Cup Decoration Filling the Front. The floral is 10" tall and 10" wide at its widest! There are leaves, buds, and blossoms going everywhere. The cobalt is just as impressive- bright and shiny! Stands 17 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Three very flat chips on top of the spout (1/4" to 1/2"), and one on the right side of the spout by the handle. Some staining from use. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A kiln touch on the left blossom at the top in the making, but not distracting.
