Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped "Lyons."

This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).

This beauty sports the Pottery "Lyons" Stamp, Freehand "2" Capacity Number, and a Cluster of Eight Grapes Hanging from a Vine.  Shiny Cobalt.  Stands 12" tall.

The flower is quite unusual for Harrington and is reminiscent of grape clusters on Harrisburg, PA pieces by Cowden and Wilcox.

Excellent Condition.  A series of 1/8" to 3/16" nibbles around the interior lid seating ring.  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
