    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped "Lyons."


    This is likely the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp 73-74).


    This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Freehand Capacity Number, and a Large Double Tulip Decoration in Vine Form (new species!).  The decoration is executed with wide brushstrokes of strong cobalt, and includes 12 leaves and two blossom swith 3 petals each.  Measures 9 1/4" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.


    Excellent Condition.  A 1/4" flake inside and at the base, and some faint staining near the bottom. That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Partial stone ping on the front in the making.
