Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped "Lyons."

This is likely the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp 73-74).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Two Large Chrysanthemums in the Center Flanked by Freehand Capacity Numbers.  The floral has 5 leaves and two blossoms of 7 petals each.  Bold and beautiful cobalt on a clean palate.  Stands 11 3/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A few 1/8" nibbles on the inner seating ring where a lid would sit, and a faint 3/4" line in the rim above the left handle (closeup). No rim or base chips, body hairlines or cracks, stains, or restoration.
