Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 3 Gallon Churn made and stamped by "Lewis & Cady, Fairfax, VT."
This is an uncommon mark from unknown potters from around 1856 when the pottery in Fairfax was under stress and had several combinations of potters running the show (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 45).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large Freehand Floral Comprised of Three Wild and Crazy Leaves in Brilliant Cobalt. Stands 14 1/2" tall.
