Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is a rare 2 Gallon Lidded Preserve Jar made for "Leslie & Blaisdell, Importers and Dealers, Crockery, Glass Ware, Stoneware Ware & Furniture, Potsdam, N.Y."
The decoration indicates that this jar was made in Burlington, Vermont by one of the Ballard Potteries.
Dating around 1870, this beauty features 5 Lines of Detailed Impressed Advertising with Cobalt Wash and a Ballard Cobalt Floral. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Excellent Conditon. Small nibbles and even wear around the inner rim where the lid sits, and a narrow 9/10" chip on the underside of the right handle. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. The lid is as made with a 1/4" chip on top of the knob in the making.
As you know, early advertising from upstate New York with this much detail is very hard to find!
