Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Large Yellow Ware Mug made for the Cincinnati Cooperage Company.
This company made barrels in Cincinnati in the 19th century.
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty sports wonderful graphics. It is shaped like the barrels the company made. The front hosts the company name in a plaque surrounded by hops, and the back hosts a Viking king swigging his ale. This is a tall mug, almost a stein, measuring 7 1/2" tall .
You can see a similar mug featured in Lisa S McAllister, Collector's Guide to Yellow Ware, Book II, p. 82.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Small 1/4" partial stone ping below the advetising and slightly out-of-round in the making.
