Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this great 2 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jar with Florals.
The form and decoration indicate that this jar was made by Amos and Jeremiah Keister of Strasburg, Virginia. This duo made stoneware in Strasburg from 1880-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 103).
This beauty features the Ovoid Form with Tall Neck Reminiscent of Earlier Days, a Double Tulip on Each Side, and Cobalt Accents at the Handles.
Good Condition. A dozen chips on the rim as shown (1/4" to 1"), some nibbles on the rounded base of the rim, two chips on each handle (1/8" to 1/2"), and a 5" tight hairline on the bottom below one handle that wraps under 2" (closeup). No base chips, stains, or restoration.
