Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug stamped "Jordan." This is likely the work of James McBurney and his sons who ran the pottery in Jordan, N.Y. from 1852 to 1860 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 70).
Jordan stoneware is uncommon.
This beauty features the "Jordan" stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Huge Brushed Cobalt Double-Tulips Flanked the Double "2" Capacity Numbers. The floral has two striped leaves and two blossoms with 6 petals each. Lots of cobalt. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some very light staining. Otherwise as made.
