Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "John Burger, Rochester."

John Burger made pottery Rochester from 1854 to 1867 before passing the business on to his sons (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number, and a Fern Plant with Three Fronds.  The floral is executed by an expert hand with a slip cup in bold cobalt.  Stands 14 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Some very minor nibbles and three chips on the underside at the edge (3/8" to 3/4"), and some staining on the left side.  That's it!  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A small kiln touch in the right front in the making.
