Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this masterful 1 Gallon Stoneware Pitcher made and stamped on the bottom by "J. Beaumont, Sunnybrook, MD." It is also hand-initialed "JB" 2007 with a Cross.
This is the work of Jerry Beaumont, a contemporary master potter.
This beauty Imitates Incised Pitchers from the Baltimore Area Circa 1820. All the decoration is incised and cobalt filled as it would have been at that time. A tall flower graces the front with a bird perched on a branch on each side. Garlands spring out of the top and fall along each side of the flower. A ridged rim accented in cobalt and a double flower framing the handle complete the decoration. Exceptional glaze that is rich and shiny. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
One like this from the period would run over $40,000. You can have this one for much less!
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind.
