Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this splendid 6 7/8" Wax Sealer Canning Jar made by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."
James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Small Size, Finely Tooled Grooved Rim, Slightly Canted Sides, and the Company Advertising Wrapping Halfway Around the Jar in Large Letters. Stands 6 7/8" tall.
Excellent Condition. A half-dozen small chips on the inner rims (1/2" or less) and a couple contiguous 1/8" nibbles on the outside of the rim. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Three vertical surface firing lines at the base in the making (1", 1", 2 1/4"- closeup).
