Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this most unusual 1 Gallon Decorated Jar made by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, Pa."

James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).

This beauty features the Company Advertising in a Circle Surrounding a Pinwheel Decoration-- All Framed by a Diamond Base with an Oblisk on Each Side.  Stands 9 1/2" tall.

I have never seen this decoration before.  It reminds me of a mirror that swivels within a frame on a dresser.

Very Good Condition.  A narrow 5/8" chip inside the rim.  No outer rim or base chips, stains, or restoration.   A faint line on the bottom that comes up on the back as a U with 4" sides (closeup) that occurred in the making when the jar lowered slightly on the right side.
