Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Stoneware 8" Wax Sealer made by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, Pa."
James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features two top and a bottom stripe that frame the company stencil surrounding a lily pad and underscored by a stripe. The light gray clay and the gorgeous cobalt make for a strong contrast and visual appeal. Stands 8" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some water glass staining inside, three narrow chips inside the outer rim (1/4" to 3/8"), and a small stain on the back bottom. That's it! No outer rim chips or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
A James Hamilton jar with exceptional color!
