    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 1 Gallon Preserve Jar stamped "JFS."


    This is the stamp of James Franklin Seagle of Vale, Lincoln County, North Carolina (1829-1892).   He was the son of Daniel Seagle of the famous Seagle pottery family begun Adam Seagle (Charles Zug III, Turners and Burners: The Folk Potters of North Carolina, pp. 85, 292). 


    This beauty features a Slight Ovoid Form with Ringed Neck and Flared Collar with a Seating Ring inside for a Lid, the Pottery Stamp, and a Honey Brown Alkaline Glaze.  Stands 11 1/8" tall.


    Excellent Condition. A single 3/8" chip in the middle that is partially a straw void in the making.  That's it!  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
