Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Churn made and stamped by "J. Weaver."
This is the work of John Weaver who made stoneware in Beaver, Pennsylvania from the late 1840's to about 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, p. 113).
Dating around 1850, this beauty has a Churn Form, Carefully Tooled Rim, Pottery Stamp, and a Garland of Three Tulips Across the Front. The tulips have four leaves and a blossom with 5 petals. Additional cobalt accents at the handle terminals. All the cobalt is rich and shiny. Stands 14 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip on the left handle and some moderate surface wear from use. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Very clean example.
