Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "J. Weaver."
This is the work of John Weaver who made stoneware in Beaver, Pennsylvania from the late 1840's to about 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, p. 113).
Dating around 1850, this beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Shape, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Garland of Three Tulips Cascading Across the Front. Brushed, Vivid Cobalt. Stands 15 1/2" tall.
As you know, most Weaver pottery you see are jars. This is second jug that I have ever had to sell. Comes from an old Pennsylvania collection.
Excellent Condition. Some light and scattered stains. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Kiln touch on the left side in the making.
