Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "J. Weaver."

This is the work of John Weaver who made stoneware in Beaver, Pennsylvania from the late 1840's to about 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, p. 113).

Dating around 1850, this beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Shape, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Sideways Brushed Cobalt Tulip.  The tulip has two large leaves and a blossom with 8 petals.  Stands 13 3/4" tall.

As you know, most Weaver pottery you see are jars.  This is perhaps the first jug that I have ever had to sell.  I don't remember ever having a jug before.  Comes from an old Pennsylvania collection.

Excellent Condition. Some slight wear here and there. That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
