Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this exceptional 3 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "J. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT."

This is the work of Julius Norton, his son Luman, and his cousin Edward Norton who worked in Bennington using this mark from 1859-1861 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp, 42, 44).

This beauty features the Larger 3 Gallon Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and an Elaborate Floral Bouquet that Graces the Entire Front.  Rich and shiny cobalt like we expect from the Norton factory and detailed work from a master decorator's hand. Stands 12 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Some nibbles and small chips on the inner rim where a lid would sit, a 1/4" flake on the right handle, and two very small stains.  That's it!  No top rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A firing line behind the left handle seen on both sides in the making and glazed over (closeups).
