    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Stunning 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT."


    This is the mark of Julius Norton, his cousin Edward Norton, and his son, Luman who worked together in the family pottery from 1859-1861 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 41-44).


    This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Big Bird on a Branch in Bright Bennington Cobalt Blue.  The artist impresses us with his decoration and use of color!  Stands 14" tall.


    Excellent Condition.  Two shallow chips on the spout (1/4", 1/2"), and a 1/4" chip at the base.  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
