• Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Stunning 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT.


    This is the mark of Julius Norton, his cousin Edward Norton, and his son, Luman who worked together in the family pottery from 1859-1861 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 41-44).


    This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Huge Bird on a Branch in Bright Bennington Cobalt Blue.   The artist used his large canvas to impress us with his decoration.  Stands 15 1/2" tall.


    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  Typical manufacturing imperfections.   Very clean example.
