This is the work of James Mantell who potted in Penn Yan, New York from 1856-1876 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 72) .
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Urn with a Double Tulip Growing Up Out of It. Stands 11 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1" chip on the rim in the back, a faint surface-only crow's foot in the glaze below the right handle (closeup), and some staining from use. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
