    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Decorated Jar Stamped "J. Eberly & Bro., Strasburg, VA." 


    This is the mark of Jacob Jeremiah Eberly and his brother, Joseph, who began pottery manufacture in 1874 after buying a share of the Keister Pottery. See the discussion in H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, p. 399.


    This beauty features a Very Carefully Tooled Rim to Facilitate Tying Paper or Cloth Covering Over the Opening to Seal it, and Four Brushed Cobalt Vertical Tulips on Long Stems.  The cobalt is dark and shiny like we like it!  Stands 11 1/2" tall.


    Excellent Condition.  Two outer rim chips (1/4", 1'), a 1/4" base chip, and a 1" chip on the underside at the edge.  No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
