• Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."

This is the work of Julius Norton and his cousin, Edward Norton who worked in Bennington using this mark from 1850-1859 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp, 42).

This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash, and a Floral Bouquet with Elaborate Center Blossom, Buds, Leaves, and Tendrils..   The decoration is detailed and executed with a slip cup in brilliant cobalt as is expected from Bennington potters at this time.  Gorgeous!  Stands 13" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A flat 3/8" chip no the top of the spout, a shallow 3/4" chip on the right side of the handle, and a wear spot on the back near the handle (closeup).  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration..
