    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."   


    This is the work of Julius Norton and his cousin, Edward Norton who worked in Bennington using this mark from 1850-1859 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 42).  


    This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash, and a Classic Norton Bird on a Branch Decoration.  The cobalt blue is spectacular!  Stands 11 1/4" tall.


    Very Good Conditon.  An 1/8" chip on the spout and a tight line through the base of the handle.  No base chips, body hairlines or cracks, stains, or restoration.
