    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."


    This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the Burger family pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).


    This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and Floral Created with a Slip Cup.  The floral has four fern-like leaves and a blossom with the capacity number inside.  Measures 11" tall and 11 3/4" wide across the top.


    Excellent Condition.  A 6" surface-only vertical craze line below the rim in the back (closeup).  That's it!  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A 1" chip in the back where the crock adhered to the kiln furniture in the making.
