Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preerve Jar made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."


This is the mark of John Burger, Jr. who ran the Burger family pottery from 1880 to 1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Pottery, p. 74).


This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and Daisy Created with a Slip Cup. The daisy has a center dot, a dozen petals (some with stripes), and two leaves with stripes and a series of 13 dots emanating from them. Bright cobalt was used throughout. Stands 10 3/4" tall.


Very Good Condition. Some water glass staining inside from use. A 1/4" chip on the seating ring inside, a dozen chips and a 1" outer surface-only line around the rim (1/8" to 1/2"), and some chips on the back of the right handle. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, outer stains, or restoration.
