Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and Floral Created with a Slip Cup. The floral has two fern-like leaves and a blossom with the capacity number inside. Strong, shiny, and thick cobalt that can felt with the fingertips. Measures 8 1/2" by 10".
Very Good Condition. A 1/2" chip outside the rim in the back and some light staining around the rim. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
