    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."


    This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the Burger family pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).


    This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and an Elaborate Wreath Enveloping the Capacity Number.  The wreath sports lots of detailed work, including a bow at the bottom!  The wreath was created with a slip cup in bright and shiny cobalt.  Measures 8 1/2" tall and 10" wide across the top.


    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind. Looks like it just arrived from the pottery in a crate of excelsior!
