Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Cream Pot made for "Wm Haslage & Co., Grocers and Tea Dealers, No 18 Diamond, Pittsburgh, PA."
This jar was made in SW Pennsylvania, probably at Greensboro.
Dating about 1880, this beauty features a Two Top and One Bottom Stripe that Frame the 7 Lines of Stenciled Advertising, and a Freehand Capacity Number framed by Dashes Below. The cobalt advertising is contrasts very well with the light gray clay background. Measures 10 1/4" tall and 9 1/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A faint 2" vertical surface line to the left of the bottom dashes and faint surface crow's foot to the right of the bottom dashes. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A raised portion of the rim on the front right, a kiln touch in the back, and slightly out of round in the making.
A very nice piece of Pittsburgh stoneware and business history.
