Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made by "Hamilton & Jones, Greensboro, Pa."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features Two Top Stripes, the Company Advertising Surrounding Three Emblems Framed by Dashes in the Upper Corners and the Capacity Number and Another Stripe Below. Additional cobalt as the handle teminals. Measures 11 1/2" tall and 10" wide across the top
As you know, this maker made a lot of jars and not many crocks.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip on the left handle and a 1/2" chip on the front bottom. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
